Bizarre Climate Control Problem - Please Help!

I experienced a bizarre experience yesterday on a hot drive from Orlando to Clemson, SC. After running a couple of hours at 80-85 mph, I stopped for a break. I have a 2002 SE Convertible with auto climate control. The top was up so the auto function was working. When I started the car back up the AC, which had been working fine, was pumping hot air into the cabin. I restarted the car several times but no change. I drove the last two hours with no AC. When I arrived at home I put the top down and still no AC. I did notice that the auto function remained on. This shouldn’t happen on convertibles. They switch to manual mode with the top down.
This led me to think the problem was in the electronic control rather than a mechanical problem. I turned the car off with the top still down for 30 minutes. When I restarted the car, the AC was in manual as it should be and the AC was working fine. No works as good as always in manual or auto. I guess the climate control computer reset itself. BTW I never had any indication from the SID or the CEL.
Does anyone know if this is a software glitch or a known SAAB problem. I still am under warranty but dealers aren’t very good at finding problems that seemed to have solved themselves. Any insight is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Jim Olson
