Here is a pat on the back for Saab. Our check engine light kept coming on. We live 800km from the nearest Saab dealer. A local independent read the code for us, but was not sure that he was in a position to do the work. We told the dealer what the code was and that we would be by in a month or so (as part of a family trip) The shop diagnosis was that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced (it was partially plugged and producing back pressure). The warranty runs to 140,000 km; we were at 148,000 km. Without even being asked the dealer went ahead and did the work without charging us. All we had to do was sign a document acknowledging the extention of the warranty. My next car is another Saab.
