If something was going to happen due to switching to synthetic oil, like a clogged pickup screen or sudden oil leaks, it would have probably happened a lot earlier than 6 months and 7000 miles since the switch.
I would not run extended change intervals for the first year after you switch, not in this car, anyway.
If you want to know whether the synthetic oil is washing any solids out of the engine, change the filter (leave the oil), and cut the old filter open with a hacksaw. If you find solid particles in the filter, like coffee grounds or larger, then your engine has a problem.
If you are still concerned, have someone who knows what they are doing run an oil pressure test for some peace of mind, that will tell you if the oil pressure is OK.
Sending a sample of oil in for analysis costs about $20, the price of half a tank of gas - another cheap test at 50-100k miles, or to find out if you can run extended oil changes in the car.
If and when you retorque the head bolts, make sure you see what is under the valve cover yourself, and don't rely on a mechanic. Lots of example pics here of clean engines and engines full of crud.
A clean Viggen engine on full synth should run a long time (wish I had one in my car!)
