1999 9-3 SE HOT 60k
SO I've read up, and I know now that the best oil for my car is M1 0W40, and I also know I should be using a really good oil filter.
Up till now I've used standard Saab changed Semi-syn, because while I'm at school, I'm not allowed to change fluids in our parking lot here at school, so I can't change the oil myself. (I WANT to go to full synthetic for engine protection and environmental reasons)
I haven't done the head bolt retorque, but I plan to within in the next 3,000 miles. I haven't run AutoRX yet, because I haven't done the head bolt retorque, and I don't know if there is any sludging in the first place.
I have an appointment this friday to have the oil changed at the dealership.
#1) Should I change to full synthetic with this oil change even though I haven't retorqued the head bolts yet? Could the switch introduce any seepage?
#2) If I should switch to full syn with this oil change, should I just tell the dealership to use full synthetic, or should I go out and by the M1 and filter and ask them to use that?
#3) What are the chances of a switch to full syn from semi-syn at 60k breaking some chunk loose and clogging the oil pickup? (I already checked my oil light at startup, so I know it functions)
I don't want to risk seepage or a clogged pickup or engine damage, but I AM running increased boost and I do drive my car pretty hard on a regular basis.
