There are two issues with the small center electrodes in the platinun plugs and others of that nature. The small electrode increases the voltage field stress and will make plas,a ionization currents easier to start. That might get the DI to retard timing and avoid knocking to a greater degree.

The other issue is temperature. High temps can initiate ignition and also increase plasma currents. So the high temps are a knock threat and the increased plasma currents will tend to make the DI avoid knocking.

So 7ES plugs to not knock and the 6ES plugs do. But the 7ES plugs foul. This is not normal, except that 7ES will be too dark for some. I am concerned that there is more going on than plugs. The DI might be acting up, or the AF ratios might be bad. I think that you have to look past plugs for some other cause. The situation is sensitive to plugs, but the plugs may not be the root issue. With the T5, a VAC leak does not throw off AF. What other things have you tried and what fuels have you tried.
