Yes, read Dean's post a few down . Did your pressure check out OK (I
assume you had some basic guage with the refrigerant)?
I thought my compressor was bad too but having my mechanic check it out
it was determined to be a resistor (I think its under the dash). My
compressor would not kick on. Actually it was coming on the lowest fan
setting (the resistor is to the fan speed switch or something).
I'm not sure why I didn't notice some cold air or the compressor coming on
at the lower setting.
Perhaps at night when the car is cooled down try the lowest fan setting
and try to listen for an rpm change if the compressor kicks on? On my
1999 9-3 anyway with the grill off there was a little window where I could
see coolant flowing.
Good luck.
I was also told the AC switch itself can go bad. Getting it diagnosed and
either part replaced was cheaper than a new compressor ($$).
