Just got a SkyFi2, and would like to have as "stock" of an installation as possible. My initial concerns are with the placement of the satellite antenna. I was thinking at first of running the wire under the interior panels and out the top of the hatch, up to the roof. But I really don't want wires being exposed, so the I considered drilling my own hole in the roof to run the wire through.
Then I realized that I don't use OnStar, nor do I plan on it in the future, so what would be the harm in removing the OnStar antenna, and using the existing hole? It's also the perfect location for the XM antenna. My only concern would be the size of the hole left by the OnStar antenna... might need quite a large grommet ;).
Anyone ever done this or considered doing this? Am I crazy?
