The 2004 (or any year) Aero is a fabulous car. I'll miss it. In fact, I already miss the sport seats and the Xenon headlights. But I'm glad to be back in a proper Saab hatchback.
The problems my Aero had were an isolated issue, maybe more dealer-caused than manufacturing-related. My Aero had a dead A/C when it was delivered in April 2004. The car spent almost four weeks in and out of one dealer's shop over the first two months. They got it working again, but the cooling output was weak. Later a second dealer corrected the weak cooling problem, but we believe the reassembly of the mechanical moving parts of the HVAC system by the first dealer after a complete tear-down left it with some new issues: intermittent ACC faults being displayed, etc. I'm sure it is something simple and ultimately repairable, but after eight warranty repair visits and 30 shop days, Saab offered me a compromise that was financially too attractive not to take.
We still have faith in the 9-5 - my wife is likely to lease a new 9-5 Arc when her 2002 Linear goes off lease in August (Saab #9).
/Geoff
