Vibration - inner driver?

Hi,
I have a 1999 9-3 automatic (base, 56K miles) and feel vibration through the steering wheel when accelerating at speeds over 45mph (especially when driving up hill or with a heavy load in the car). I have read here, this could be an inner driver problem, but how can you tell? I fear the shop throwing parts at it. I had the transmission mounts looked at when I had the flex pipe replaced earlier this week and they check out OK.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
