It was an automatic which said 2.0t on the back. Wheels appeared to 16" but I did not really inspect the vehicle. Last time I drove a new 9-3 SS was back when the linears were being lauched with the 17" rims and sports package. Frankly, that version seemed to be more exciting than what I was driving. Since this was dealer loaner car, I am confident it was the ARC trim level as it had the faux wood dash and seat heaters, leather and all of the other goodies usually found in the old 9-5/9-3 SE trim levels.
I am not saying it was a bad car, I am simply stating that I did not find it to be a driver's car in the same vein as my 99 9-3 with its SAAB OEM 17" rims and Pirelli P Zero Neros and its aftermarket suspension parts from Talieferro and CK Paden. Sure my 9-3 rides like a skate board but then it also rewards me with excellent steering (well weighted and responsive with steering rack clamp and brace) and excellent turn in with its 17" rims and good high speed stability with its front sub frame brace and rear sway bar. Perhaps, I need to drive the Aero version but I really would want more than Arc engine with a 6 speed and a tuned-up suspension and 17 " rims for the extra money. Would love to see a Viggen 2.3 engine in an Aero 9-3 SS.
