The clearance was only about 3-4 mm. On some cars the 97-inch, 2460 mm belt seems to be too long when used with the Saab stock upper idler. If the belt stretched around 0.2-0.3% on my car, the pulley would make contact.
Most people either do not have the problem, or do not measure the clearance. The marks on the tensioner arm that tell you if the belt is too loose or too tight showed the arm just outside the range. Elsewhere people have recommended the PBH4060966 or equivalent, which is 2455mm. I no longer use the Saab stock pulley, so it is not as much of an issue.
