But of course you might get some hassle depending on the insurance company. Get the car back to your town for a few reasons:

1) Inspection of work as it is done
2) If a month later you have some issue like wind noise at the door or something that might not have otherwise been obvious when you pick it up you can get it addressed locally.
3) Its crazy to think you would need to go out 100 miles to pick it up when it is done.

A little too late, but at 100 miles when the car got towed from the scene you should have gotten a flatbed to come and take it to your body shop 100 miles away right then.
