For what it's worth, I come to this site looking for the specific problems I encounter with my '99 9-3. I bought it almost a year ago with 29,400 miles and I have had the heater box and knobs fixed (seemingly common) for $50 and I had the passenger side worn inner CV replaced (not quite as common, had to look for those posts) because of vibration under accelleration. That didn't cost me anything, my after-market warranty covered it at the non-Saab dealer where I bought it, and they did a nice job. My point is that you see mostly problems on this board and usually just the ones that directly affect you. I think the C.R. figures are reasonably accurate, and I'm not expecting my DI cassette to fail (knock on wood, right?). If you're a gambling man (or woman) you go about without the spare DIC, but if you like to be safe and have an extra $300 knocking around, you carry a spare in your trunk and you're ready for what some say may be inevitable. Pay your money take your choice.
