With regards to the sound system, the rear speakers are quite mediocre.

However, if you upgrade them, the front end does not have enough juice to drive them.

I had a separate power amp mounted in my trunk, to drive a decent pair of 6x9 speakers (JL Audio).
Make sure you get a professional installer who has worked on Saab before.
I went to one of the better ones in Huntington Beach (part of a crew with a current TV show about car modding) and the poor guy spent most of the day figuring out how to wire the amp up to the front end, even after I gave him all the documentation that can be found on this site.

The front dash speakers will give you no problems to install and will provide a noticeable improvement.
