I just hit 70 k today but the car has been leaking oil from the valve cover vent tubes and the black oil colletion box and has been since the day the warranty expired. I have not done any of the Saab TSB recommended mods as folks on this BB first said to do them, then later advised against it, so I took a wait and see attitude. Since then, two other SI's have been issued by Saab on this topic.

It is about time to replace some crunchy vac hoses as well as crankcase vent hoses, nipple and check valve, should I go with the OEM stuff, the setup as recommended by the first Saab SI (SI-210-2353)or second (SI 210-2417, Edition 1)or the third Saab SI (SI 210-2417, Edition 3, May 2005)??

It does not appear that Saab has a clue how to fix this by all the conflicting information in the various SI's. So I am a bit reluctant to spend my cash on a bunch of parts that will leave me with the same problem (or even worse). BTW, had the valve cover off at 65 k to replace and torque the headbolts with the old style bolts and VC gasket problem and noticed quite a bit of sludge and varnish, much more than that on my 1994 SE at 153k had. Both cars get M1 0-40 at 5k intervals. Wonder if the mickey mouse vent system has anything to do with the sludging issue?
