First try to reset system (if you have automted control)instructions on th owner manual.
Second if first step does not work out the problem, check for the compressor clutch, it may be not sticking strong enough to the pulley, so slipping. When slips occurs, the compressor is not rotating fast enough to produce the compression needed to create the cold air.

Usually slipping is not constant because slipping heats up the pulley and the clutch, therefore decreasing the gap between the clutch plate and the pulley. This will help the clutch's plate to stick on the pulley.

But then the heat produced by the slip on the pulley is not there anymore so the gap increases again an the clutch slips.
