Geez, Jeff. I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. I've had similar experiences myself with Saab dealers. I finally found an indie an hour and a half away that I trust. It took me 2 years, 3 dealers, and 2 other independant mechanics to find, but, I finally found one I trust.

Self education may be your best bet. Saabs are relatively easy to work on (there's good engine access, generally, and you don't seem to need a great deal of specialized tools). I've always taken the attitude of "if you want it done right, do it yourself." Your personal pride in ownership and the desire to take care of your property will help you in your endeavor to take matters into your own hands. Attention to detail goes a very long way in assuring that you're taking proper care of your car.

Blogs like this one are invaluable to DIY-ers. You can find good answers to just about any question you could ask. Plus, Saab owners tend to be very helpful, community-oriented folks that take pride in owning an unusual car.

Definitely, though, if the "dealer" is treating your car so poorly on the outside (curb rash, etc.) they're not doing you any favors on the inside (stripping bolts, not applying proper torque, not troubleshooting, etc.).
