It really does depend on who's driving. I got 32 mpg in a '98 SE 'vert during a 5 hour drive on the freeway with the cruise control set at 69 mph into a head wind.
On the way back, my GF drove, her speed varied from 70 to 95(!)("That's 95, doesn't feel like it, does it!") and we only got 25 mpg.
Her line is "Why do you put the go-fast bits on it if you don't want to go fast??"
My '95 SE 2-door gets 36 mpg consistently on that same trip when I'm driving.
