I bought a set of adapters (1/4, 3/8 and 1/2) that fit into the end of a short shank 8mm Allen socket.
The hex head of that adapter is 9/16 and I can fit a regular box wrench on there.
I think it was KD tools or Lisle that sold the kit.
But in your case it might be just as easy to buy one 8mm Allen wrench and cut it off a little where it goes into the plug and then use a lead hammer and give it one precise whack to loosen the plug.
