1999 9-3 SE HOT
I installed the rear portion of my new Koni spring/strut kit this past friday, and had my mechanic install the front portion along with strut mounts and bearings saturday. Part way through my mechanic ran into a problem.. he was missing a "spacer" of some sort that goes at the top of the base of the strut, inside the strut tube, just below the nut. Basically, as I found out, what this spacer does is keep the strut from knocking around up and down inside the strut tube.
So apparently the spacer wasn't present in the bag (unopened beforehand) with all the other parts necessary for the install. And since it was saturday, I couldn't get hold of anyone from Koni. So we put in place some rubber washers from the local hardware store that i hoped would fix the problem. Mechanic didn't think it would work either, but worth a temporary shot. No such luck. I heard the banging around tonight as I drove.
I plan to call Koni tomorrow morning and see what they plan to do about it(they never called me back from saturday). But I need the two spacers (one for each side) really fast if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I have to go back to school in SC from NJ soon and the mechanic that I trust is here in NJ. Please help!!
TIA
