Just did this - '97 900SE coupe to '02 9-3SE 5-door.
The pin receiver holes under the door rear door window seals are threaded. Use M6 x 16mm-20mm long pan-head screws, thread them into the holes with about 5mm of thread exposed, then install the rear crossbar like you would on the coupe. Next, snug up the screws and you're good to go.
I applied some electrical tape to the inside surfaces of the crossbar feet in case it rubs the paint.
