OBDII took effect in 1996, with much more strict regulations on CEL's for emissions components. If you have a 1995 model (like me), it seems that you can disconnect the SAI system with no problem. But in 1996 models, they may be structured to give a CEL if the SAI does not function due to the different OBDII sensor system.

What did you disconnect? I wonder if you just unplug power to the pump itself if you will get a CEL. There may be a chance that the only thing on the CEL loop is the vacuum solenoid on the firewall, but that's just a guess.
