I think you are right: I think you could connect the telephone kit (link below) and get most of this functionality. What would be missing would be stereo sound.
But here's a guess at how to add the stereo and have an easier aux input.
* Sever the connection between TEL_L and TEL_R as per Seth / German's instructions. (http://gatoalfa.calipso.com.co/art/pcb1.jpg)
* Solder a single wire to TEL_L.
* Connect the telephone kit (link below).
And you should be off to the races.
Any comments? Should this work?
Note 1: the telephone kit has two different inputs. "Pin #9 Microphone positive connection for systems with high-level output(e.g. Motorola)" and
"Pin #10 Microphone positive connection for systems with low-level output
