I HATE this freaking stereo system so far as the SAAB proprietary 'marriage' crap goes !!! AAARGH!
I've been reading for hours on here, and it's really getting annoying.
I'd like to connect a Parrot CK3000 or CK3100 bluetooth to the hands-free system, and possibly install onstar (there must be parts in a wrecking yard available sheap, no?).
On top of that, I'd like to play my ipod through the changer input, but the car has no changer and I have no interest in having one.
So, WHY on earth can't I trick the head unit into believing there is a CD changer installed and a disc is playing ad infinitum? It would SEEM like marrying a CD changer (to make the HU happy) and installing some kind of low level continuous tone or signal repeater or bridge to the ipod line out, etc, would work.
What part of the changer sends the signal saying a CD is loaded and playing? How do we make that thing talk? There must be some way to engineer a little repeat signal device to keep the HU fooled, leaving the CD changer line available as a 'switchable' line in for whatever nember of ipod/sirius/XM type input you could want - all while leaving the phone lines open for onstar/bluetooth use (including 'mute music' function).
ANYONE heard anything on the particulars of WHY this can't be done? I'm no EE, but good grief Charlie Brown!!! This is foolish! FYI I am aware of the Seth hack, but I would like to leave the phone/onstar utilities 'unmolested' and fully able to mute the radio...
Thanks in advance for any insight!
