I am about to tackle the whole project as soon as my Parrot and phone harness get here, but here's my plans:
(2000 9-3 SE AS2 w/CD, no changer, no OnStar)
Installation:
Infinity Basslink II
Parrot Bluetooth CK3100
Ipod
Valentine One (w/ Remote Display and remote volume switch)
Possibly the following as well (have it, just not sure I'm motivated yet)
a/d/s 6/4/t in front
boston 6/t rear (custom fit in 6x9 slots)
a/d/s electronic crossover
a/d/s 6 channel 300 watt amp
Not sure I want to run all the wires, deal with 'noise' issues etc right now. Is there any merit to putting the speakers in the dash and rear shelf, leaving the saab door speakers, and not wiring an amp, or will the headunit be overpowered by the higher quality speakers?
I look forward to your write-up, in any event!
Do you have any idea how to wire the ipod to the CD changer port w/o the changer, and trick the stereo? I don't even see a CD changer 'button' on my head unit - how would I even activate it? Push 'CD' twice? (assuming I 'married' one temporarily and/or could then trick it into believeing there was always a CD playing...)
Friggen stoopid engineers who engineered this head unit... yeesh.
Lastly - is there a remote lead w/ radio on that is 'active' in the trunk? I assume if I use the antenna, there will be no 'lead' unless the AM or FM is 'on' - i.e. not when the CD is on - which would make it a bad signal to use for turning an amp on?
Sorry for the questions... Look forward to your write-up!
Thanks,
Sarge
