I picked up a '94 900S four weeks ago. 5-spd, 63K miles, $3900. I've learned some things about it as I get it sorted out -- nothing bad, just little things.
Check the ball joints.
Power windows have cheap little plastic rollers which break. You'll have to replace them sooner or later. Not a tough job, just annoying.
Mechanical clutch cable can get resistant, needs to be lubed and adjusted.
Throttle linkage can hang or get very rough. There's a grommet that should be replaced with one made of a different material.
Biggest problem with these cars is the manual HVAC system. The knobs will break off and that could mean big trouble buried in the dash to fix it. Someone has posted a $50 fix for this instead of the dealer's $1000 dash tear-down.
I have a 2003 9-5 Aero, so that's my basis of comparison. But I like this non-turbo 900. It has better front legroom than my Aero, similar instruments, reasonable power and cavernous space inside.
