9-3 Springs and the snow (interesting note)

At 20K miles I had put sport springs in my 9-3. I just took them out and readily noticed that the car handles much better in the snow now. We had a nasty storm yesterday and I was driving circles around folks. I even had to go around a Jeep that was stuck trying to pull out. (He must have had bald tires or something).
With the stock springs, I can accelerate better in the snow and can regain composure more readily with them as well.
The only differences I can see is that they are a little higher, and the front is a little softer (or you could say the rear is a little stiffer). I assume that the stiffer rear end keeps the front down for more traction when accelerating. I assume the bad weather handling balance is better with the stock springs. I had both Eibach and then B&G springs on the car for the last 80K miles until going back to stock.
