Very early NG900s did have the wording light up, but in 1995 or so they got rid of the bulb and wiring and molded the ring that lit up out of black plastic instead of translucent green plastic. I found a green ring in a 1994 900 at a junkyard and put it in my '97. The wording is pretty dim and when you might want to see it, it's all washed out by the dome light.
