I posted a message over the weekend regarding an oil light and alarm. I had the car checked out at my mechanic (we don't have a SAAB dealer here in Evansville, IN) Monday morning and the engine has heavy sludge.
I bought the car just over a year ago from Jon Adkins at Sunvertibles, an independent dealer in Nashville, TN. I'm in the process of collecting service records from Sunvertibles and the Saab dealer in Tampa, FL where the car was originally purchased (it's only previous owner, who has been very helpful). Saab Customer Service has told me that they "might not" honor the extended warranty if I have the repair work done in Evansville (even if all the service records check out). They said I could go ahead and have the work done here, but I'd have to pay for it and then submit the receipt -- no telling if they'd actually pay it. The nearest certified Saab technician is about 125 miles away in Louisville, KY, so it looks like I'm going to have the car shipped out there. So far the lowest quote for getting the car to Louisville is $375.
I'm going to post messages at this site to share my experience. If anyone has any insight/suggestions, I'd be very happy for them.
Thanks
Pat
