Two separate issues.
The check valves are a common item which needs replacing every 30-60k miles. The part is about $15 online.
As for the headgasket, this model sometimes needs to have the head bolts re-tightened once in the life of the engine. There is a lot here on the head bolts and doing a retorque. Normally this is an hour of labor, and the cost of a new valve cover gasket (you have to get the valve cover off to get to the head bolts).
Dealers are well aware of the head bolt issue, there are Saab service bulletins on this going back to 1996. You can't tell if it will work until you try, but on later models it almost always does.
I have heard of some shops taking advantage of the issue to sell headgaskets, which is a much more expensive service. You might consider taking the car someplace that will check the headbolts, replace the valve cover gasket, clean the oil off the engine and see if that stops the leaks.
