New to Saab: considering a '98 900SE

I am a past VW, Volvo and current MB/BMW owner who has found a '98 900SE five door. It's fully loaded, has auto transmission (I would prefer stick), has 112,000 miles and is exceptionally clean inside & out. Supposedly has all maintenance records too. I plan on driving today and having my mechanic go over it. I believe that this car has a turbo, too. Asking price is $6800, but I have a friend who works at this the dealer. He will give me the car for something close to their cost, which we will determine today. This is not a car they normally would sell on their used lot but were impressed with its condition.

My current daily driver is a '86 BMW 325es (2.8 liter/five speed) that is a blast to drive but is getting a little long in the tooth and needs some repairs. I am attracted to the 900SE for its safety, handling and practicality. Will I enjoy driving the 900SE and should it prove to be as reliable as my venerable BMW? I am always proactive about maintenance on my cars. Like any Euro car, I assume the Saab will need a little extra TLC, which I am willing to give. Will this car hold up for another 100K like former Volvo 240 and the 325es?

I would appreciate your opinions on cost, reliability, longevity, etc. I frequent a BMW board much like yours and have always enjoyed the info and people. I look forward to being a future 900SE owner and a member of your community.
