I took the exhaust manifold and turbo off - nothing odd of course
Finally got the intake manifold off - hose clamp sitting inside intake #4 - the high velocity of air from the turbo actually pounded it into the splitter (where it divides air for the intake valves) and smoothed it out, and left indentions on the floor (slight) - part was broken off and missing - looks like it's sitting in #3 on the piston.
I recognize the clamp - replaced last Oct. when I put new heater hoses on - took off the intercooler to TB pipe to access and had it on the ground (was working outside the garage so the antifreeze could be washed off the ground) - at some point I recall she had picked it up and played with it (was moved) - don't know how I reassembled and didn't notice but I'm sure now she wedged it into the rubber connection (near the TB) - it probably sat there until something made it come loose 2 weeks ago, when it was misfiring occasionally under slight boost - not enough to cause the engine to even complain, I could just feel it as missing some power pulses - then when I ran it WOT one time and it quit doing that, it must have sucked it into the intake and wedged it -

Have to take the head off to see the extent of the damage but the valves appear fine, no seat damage (those are pretty hard compared to a hose clamp so no suprise) but the piston tops have melted the crap onto them, so will have to clean them off without contaminating the cylinders - probably seal it off with plastic or something and use a vacuum. I have yet to buy a guide for this car - it's so well engineered and logically laid out - but I'll need info on removing the head and the torque specs. etc.
No sludge, clean parts, best looking engine I've ever seen apart at 100k!
Only oil leak is the knock out plug at the end of the exhaust side where the dist. on the 2.3 would go - need to seal it up on the outside somehow.

So don't let a 3 year old who likes to hide things near the parts on your car - you might just regret it!!!
