Replace the leaking flex pipe, but the smell shouldn't come in to the cabin. Check a few things that might be happening...
Drain hoses for ventilation cowling. There's a big rubber drain hose top & center on the firewall (drains onto center of steering rack). If it doesn't fit properly in it's hole, you get air from engine compartment in the vents. There's another smaller drain hose down lower, you have to get underneath the car to see that one.
Are you sure it's coming in thru the vents? Check the seals around the gear shifter in the floor. I don't know exactly how those are sealed, but there isn't really supposed to be enough opening for fumes to get in.
You changed the fuel pump? What about that round disk cover under the back seat? Maybe it's not snapped in place correctly?
