I've used the chimney cement and the exhaust bandage attempting to seal the joints on a new set of pipes for my '95 900S. The chimney cement lasted a day and the muffler bandage didn't allow the clamp to seat properly.
Wound-up using high temperature RTV (the gold color) and it has lasted now for over 6 months. I'm sure that if I needed to break open the joints, the clamps would be thrown away, but the pipe joints should be redoable.
