It's the latest buzz for all manufacturers. Another automotive "disease" over diagnosed and over examined. Seems to me gunked up engines for one reason or another has been an automotive problem forever. Old news rehashed with a new buzzword, sludge.
The new invisible engine killer, everyone is a potential candidate, another something to get worked up over that must surely be because of an overall conspiracy or just plain ineptitude by auto makers, whichever scares you more. A negative by product of too much information.
Not a common problem at all, very unlikely to have been undiscovered so far on a reasonably maintained 1999 Saab.
