I tried a similar experiment, except in the other direction octane wise, this last week with my '97 900S NA. I filled it with 93 for a 700 plus mile trip, instead of the usual 89, figuring the extra octane would help with the extra load of a Thule box and lots of ski stuff. I feel it helped with fuel mileage and power even in a normally aspirated engine. When we returned my wife filled it with cheap regular and the car ran/started horribly. Could be coinsidence or a batch of bad gas, but the car ran great with good gas. I know my SE runs noticeably better with good gas. The computer won't care what you run but be aware of the reduction in performance when you want to pass or merge. Price wise it won't make that much of a difference at worst say $.20 a gallon more-3 tank fulls-less than $10 total.
Just my .02 cents.
