You will hardly get anything selling it as is...
What would it take to fix it. If it needs an engine, then buy a good used engine. I see them all of the time for under $1000. If you can not put the engine in yourself have someone do it. I would think even a mechanic doing it could do it for about $1000.
So all together you have spent $2000. I am not sure what else is wrong with it, however even if you have to put another $1000 into it you will have spent $3000.
So here are the options I would say...
1. Take it and trade it in (lucky if you got $1000 for it)
2. Sell it privately (maybe $1500)
3. Sell it to the junk yard (maybe $750)
4. Fix it and then sell it (sell for about $6000-$3000 of your expenses then you you are ahead of the game $3000. Or fix it and drive it. This will cost you far less than a new car. I think if you do not fix it and sell it as is you are going to be at a bad loss.
What else is wrong with it? What is wrong with the motor?
