*I'm getting conflicting reports, and due to time constraints would *appreciate some more solid feedback. Basically:
*Can a "new" CD changer for a 1999 9-3 be installed w/o a Tech II?
No, You must use a Tech II to marry a new unit to the car on the 9-3
*I took my old one out w/o divorcing ... as it was fried and I mangled it *trying to get my old CDs out of it. Not sure if that makes any difference.
*or
*Does it need to be married, eg., by a dealer?
Does not matter if the old unit was divorice when installing a new unit. A car could have many CD or Radios married to it and they would still work if installed in the car.
*My local Saab shop said it should be plug and play.
Wrong, only on NG900.
*But other posts on this forum suggest that's true only for the Clarion models (eg., pre 1999).
Correct.
*So before I go and try to install it tomorrow evening, I'd like to know *for sure ... as I'll take it to the dealer instead. I don't have time to *do both unfortunately and still hit the road for a pretty long trip.
*Thanks,
Your welcome,
Steve C
