My '00 Viggen had all of the same issues, and I am lucky that my local dealer came through for me. I had the seeping oil leak (front right near exhaust shield), first they cleaned the area, next was the re-torque, and as the leak still continued, it was the dealer themselves that suggested a new head gasket under CPO, and they just did it with about a month left on my warranty (CPO). My wheels were flaking, and they replaced them over a year ago under a "goodwill" title on the warranty. A CEL one day after the head gasket replacement (O2 sensor was the code, cat was shot), resulted in a new downpipe and catalytic converter, again all under CPO. Those three items alone would have cost me >4K. But I still believe it all boils down to the SAAB dealer and their customer service level. They also appear to be "honored" to service my Viggen. BTW, my dealer is Hoffman SAAB here in CT.
That being said, you have two strikes against you, your dealer's attitude and your past due warranty date. You may be able to still get a new head gasket and wheels (emblems???) if a different dealer would put these in under a recall situation, since both of these are known defects and are well documented here on saabnet. To fight with GM will probably result in nothing to help your situation and more time lost, especially since your warranty has just lapsed.
