So I have this error message that says I have a small leak in the vapor recovery system. I have installed a new PCV valve as well as new Vacuum hoses and the rubber gromet into the valve cover. And yes my little plastic box is hooked up in the correct air flow direction.......maybe:)
What I have to admit to is that when I pulled my fuel tank to replace my fuel sending unit to see if I could actually get my fuel gauge to work, I accidentally was an idiot and ended up breaking the small hoses that looks for all the world like it might just recover....yes fuel vapor from the tank and put it up into the fuel filler/breather pipe system. My question is could me breaking this hose off at the tank be related to my "check enigine" light. There is no replacement part from the dealer available as the end which I broke is moulded into the tank itself. To fix properly, I would have to buy a new tank. I have sealed the offending area of the tank but where this hose goes to its connector approximately in the middle of the car, above the axle and parallel to the breather hose, I just left open. It is quite apparent no fuel goes through this hose, just vapor. So does any bosy out there truly think it's related? Is there a way to fix? If it's not related I can diagnose up front by the motor. And the answer is ...........No my fuel gauge is STILL inoperative. It works sometimes, for a minute or two, but that's it. You would think engineering a fuel gauge would be simple for an AIRCRAFT company, but who am I to talk, I'm the one who broke this little hose fitting!
