Is there some explanation of why our Saab engines seam to be more prone to sludge issues than many other automible engines made during this time frame. I read on this forum of some issues with the NG900 and apparently there may be even more isses with the OG93 engines.
Some other manufactures have problem engines, but for many you never hear of sludge issue being a problem. Is there a theory of what causes some engines to be plauged by this problem while others, especially in low cost cars that probably get minimal maintence, apparently never develop sludge problems.
I own two 1997, 2.0T, 900SE's, a coupe and a convertible. Both have mileages in the mid 50,000 range with no problems experienced so far. I use Mobil 1, change every 5000 miles but since both were bought used some years ago I can't speak for their entire history. Neither car has been used for short commutes, at least under my ownership. I haven't pulled the valve covers yet to check for signs of sludge.
