Thanks Jeremy - but...
I messed a lot with the spring - and still the same symptoms. So, I pulled the cable. It doesn't seem that the cable is broken. The inner PVC tube in the adjuster has a lot of freeplay - not sure if it should or not?
Also, with the cable off, the actuator arm at the clutch has about 1-1.25 inches of freeplay. Again - not sure if that is normal?
The cable seems to move freely in the housing/sheath. The spring seems kind of funky though - how freely should it stretch? It seems like this one has a lot of give in it.
I may just replace the cable to be on the safe side. If this one seems to be the same as the new one, I can always keep it as a spare, I guess.
