I have a 99 9-3 that I have owned for about a year. The short belt mod had been done by a previous owner but it was time for a new belt at 120k. I purchased a new tensioner assembly to do at the same time and an aluminum pulley from wazee. I purchased a new belt using part numbers listed on M Brainds site. I thought I was in the clear because so many have done this before. I took off the belt and replaced the tensioner and pulley and put the new belt on and voila, WAY too much slack. The replacement is a 97 inch belt. When compared to the worn belt on the car it is approximately 3-4 inches longer! Whats going on if so many people have done this mod sucessfully with the same parts. Has anyone else had this problem? The new belt measures approximately 97 and the part number on the package and the belt also indicate so.
