Bypassing it would take a good wiring drawing. Like Anders says, the computers (DICE & TWICE) are in there somewhere; it's not just a couple switches & a relay like older cars.
I imagine that the "P" lamp for the tranny would tell you whether the gear-selector switch is OK. Then maybe it's safe to assume the computer's getting the right INPUT.
Check out the stuff on the 9.5 board, I haven't read those yet.
