Hi all,
I have a '96 900 turbo and am en route to Colorado from New York. In rural Kansas yesterday, my clutch went without much warning. Unfortunately I had no internet so I was not able to ask your advice on mechanics, etc! I did call my mechanic in New Jersey (Andy of Kingwood, formerly Moncrief) who gave me a rundown on the time it should take etc. George's Imports gave me a ridiculous quote of $1600/11 hours, and Aristocrat, the only place that would do it right away, gave me a quote of $1100/6 hrs. It would have been cheaper to do it at home but oh well...
Anyhow, they will start work on it this morning and now having access to the internet I read up a bit on things and realized I should get the seals done too? They're incredibly expensive for labor but not too bad on parts... The car has 108K miles and I'm hoping to keep it a long time. Any advice? They'll be doing the work today so I don't have too much time... sure wish I could have accessed the internet from Harleyville, KS where I was stuck most of the day yesterday... thank god for AAA!
