My '99 9-3 ate its first one (to by knowledge) at 76k and I installed a used red one from a 9000. It did not run too well & I got a misfire code from cylinder #4. I checked that out & all was OK. So, I bought a used black DI off eBay for about 50 buck$ and it's running great so far, inluding two - 4 hour drives w/o a stop in either direction at relatively high speeds on a relatively hot day. OK, so hot here is 75° to 80° F. All is well & highway mileage was just over 30 mpg.
If you're running only red DI's, which is recommended, maybe trying a black one will help. Maybe not. They seem to be the true quantum relationship with our Saabs.
