There are many SID fixes out there that work semi well. There is the foam strip, rubber bands, hot melt glue, and the ultimately crazy/risky Soldering gun. I have tried them all. The Soldering gun lasted the longest, but as others have stated, if the soldering pencil is too hot, you can ruin your SID for good. All of the fixes are listed on this BB somewhere.
With that said, here's something to consider. A $95 fix better last forever. I got a new SID off Ebay for $50 and hs been perfect for a year. I babied my other one for 2 years with the other fixes.
Being these cars are gotting older, there are SID's for sale out there. I'd like to hear more about the $95 fix and how long it has lasted and what is involved. The plastic ribbon connected to the motherboard is a cheap way of doing circuitry. Saab could have spent a few extra bucks and placed a quality robbon connector at that site and probably not had the problems this has been. Poor design. Very few if not any other cars have this rate of failure on such an item. Bad Saab! Good luck with it Gary. Let us know what you find ot about the $95 fix and how long of a turn around time do you drive around with a SID in your dash. I am sure many are interested.
