Rough Start and Check Engine Light

I have owned multiple Saabs over the years and this site has been a blessing. I am hoping the well is not dry yet!!!
My wife and I just bought a '01 9-3 SE with 67K to replace a BMW 540i which served us well for 125k miles. I had the car checked out by my local indy. and everything was fine(no sludge). Two mornings after the purchase, I went to start the car and was greeted with a rough start. It felt like it was struggling to maintain revolutions for about 5 seconds and then the idle increased to 1300rpms for about 30 seconds befire settling in at 1000rpms. The next day my wife reported the same issue except this time the check engine light came on. My mechanic looked at it the next day and reported back the following; computer indicated a misfiring, the plugs checked out okay, and finally after reseting the computer and driving two seperate times the light did not come back on. We decided to keep an eye on it since he could not get another check engine light and the visual inspection showed nothing. This morning, it "stumbled" again but no check engine light so far. Could this be a DIC, O2 sensor, vacuum leak? Any insight would be helpful.
