I've been having some of the symptoms of impending CPS failure (from searching the boards), hard starts, and 2 instances where the car wouldn't start when hot, then started fine after cooling. I ordered the replacement CPS and went to do the replacement tonight.
I had a heck of a time getting a torx screwdriver on the bolt that holds the CPS in (T30, correct?), couldn't get it on there and turn it. I ended up disconnecting the exhaust right after the turbo to move it aside, then I could access the torx bolt, but it would not turn, and eventually I stripped out the bolt without actually backing it out at all...
The current plan is to take it to an indy, give him my replacement cps and let him extract & replace the old bolt (and cps). I'm hoping that this will just cost me a couple of hours labor...
Mostly this is just a story, no real question, unles anyone has any good words of wisdom. And, for those who are not as mechanically adept (obviously, like me) be aware that CPS replacement can turn out more difficult than expected...
