After reading various posts about failing CPSs, I decided to make a preemptive replacement on my 99 9-3 at 101M miles. This board has been so helpful to me I wanted to share my experience. Others here have mentioned it's a relatively easy job. Well, it is but you have to start with the right tools. The main problem is the location of the mounting screw which is hidden by the sensor itself and/or your hand or tools when you try to remove it. First I tried using various flex joints and extentions on my rachet but but the location of the exhaust pipe as it exits the turbo wouldn't let me apply the necessary pressure on the rachet and the flex joint kept flopping the wrong way. (At one point I even tried jamming the flex joint with bubble gum to make it more rigid.) What ulimately worked for me was a 1/4" drive set-up using a T-30 torx bit on a 1 1/2" extention attached to a 3" extension. I found the narrower diameter of the 1/4" set up, as oppossed to 3/8", allowed just enough clearance under the exhaust pipe so I could get good purchase on the screw. When you pull out the sensor make sure you also get the o-ring and plastic spacer. The only part I had to remove before starting the project was the turbo heatshield and plastic engine cover. Not counting the mid-project hardware store trip to get the 3" extention, the whole thing took about an hour and a half.
